
The DMA Brass Band is a dynamic and versatile 1st section band, passionate about both traditional brass music and innovative collaborative projects. With roots dating back to 1887, the band took on its current identity as the Durham Miners Association Brass Band in 2009.
As the official “Area” band, DMA Brass Band proudly marches with the Durham Miners Association banner at the annual Durham Miners’ Gala, a tradition that connects them deeply to the region’s rich heritage. They also play a significant role in the Miners’ Service at Durham Cathedral, reinforcing their longstanding ties to the community.
In addition to their historical and cultural contributions, the band has achieved notable success in competition, reaching the Finals of the National Brass Band Championships three times in the past four years by winning the regional contest. Their commitment to excellence and versatility continues to make them a standout presence in the brass band world.
