Redhills. Durham Miners’ Hall

LYR (Land Yacht Regatta) are UK Poet Laureate Simon Armitage, multi-instrumentalist Patrick J Pearson and singer-songwriter Richard Walters.
Formed in 2009 the band have become a well-established and highly regarded presence on the contemporary music scene, with regular air-play across the networks and appearances at major festivals such as Latitude, Green Man and Blu Dot.
Combining powerful spoken word, soaring vocals and transcendent harmonics, LYR have attracted a devoted and growing fan base around their trademark sound with three sell-out national tours under their belt. LYR have released two critically acclaimed albums on major labels, Call In The Crash Team and The Ultraviolet Age, as well as the cult album Unnatural History, and have over 5 million streams to their name. Recent large-scale commissions include the 2024 Blossomise project with the National Trust and Firm As A Rock We Stand for Durham Brass Festival and Durham Miners’ Association, culminating in a spellbinding show in Durham Cathedral. Their reputation as writers, recording artists, performers and collaborators has led to a major commission for the 2025 BBC Proms, and the acoustic alchemy of their live sets is a unique and unmissable experience.
