Drawing inspiration from Durham’s rich brass band heritage, Durham BRASS Festival celebrates brass music in all its forms, blending genres in a dynamic eight-day festival across County Durham.
In recent years, the festival has showcased groundbreaking performances featuring brass across iconic locations, working with renowned UK and international artists such as Richard Hawley, LYR, Fat Freddy’s Drop, Public Service Broadcasting, Field Music, and Ibibio Sound Machine.
Beyond its musical impact, the festival plays a vital role in boosting the local economy and enhancing Durham’s reputation as a cultural destination. It brings the streets to life with eclectic and exciting street bands while also delivering an extensive outreach programme, including community workshops and free concerts in schools, communities, and care homes across the county.
As a key part of Durham County Council’s festivals and events programme, Durham BRASS Festival reflects the council’s commitment to culture-led regeneration, ensuring the region continues to thrive as a vibrant hub for music and creativity.
