As part of our vision of making BRASS a more inclusive and accessible festival, we put out a call for disabled artists to create new work for the festival, which was inspired by brass music. From this, we chose three exciting artists to create work for us. With restrictions as they are, we won’t be able to present these works until 2022, but we have short taster films highlighting their work.
Creating a new piece of music Sangs from Hyme’ which takes a loose inspiration from the Pitman Poet, Tommy Armstrong, and develops a song cycle for voice and brass, exploring notions of identity within the pit communities and in the North-East England. This will be recorded and filmed for BRASS 2022.
