Field Music

May 26, 2021 By

Field Music

Since forming in 2004 the Sunderland duo have gained a reputation for an ambitious and intellectual approach to making music, their relentless creativity bringing them Mercury Award nominations, endless plaudits from the critics and, even a thumbs up from Prince shortly before his death. Peter Brewis says: “We’ve written for strings, we’ve written for woodwind in the past, but we’ve maybe only ever written for one trumpet in the past. Brass is the thing I’ve avoided most, and it turns out that there are complications in writing for it, that we’re discovering only now!”

Binding Time, commissioned by BRASS in a new partnership with the Durham Miners Association, was funded by Arts Council England. Field Music will be playing these unique shows in the historic headquarters of the Durham Miners’ Association.
